  3.      The  AFC/AFX/Pkt-2400 are Class-1 faxmodems. The  software,  not  the
  4. Modem  negotiates with the fax machine. So if it connects some places,  but
  5. not  others,  it is usually a Software problem. Other  modems  are  Class-2
  6. modems. Be sure you pick the correct modem. Winfax will not do it for you.

  8.      You  can  load a Winfax TSR in dos, so you can rec'v faxes in  Dos  or
  9. Windows. See your manual for instructions & command line options.
  10.  
  11.      Make sure you have BUFFERS=35 and FILES=40 in config.sys (or more) and
  12. that fax speed is 19,200 or less (9600 best). If you have to close  Windows
  13. applications  to fax, thn you may need to increase RAM on the computer,  or
  14. keep fewer apps open at one time.

  16.      We  have  found  some  ScreenSavers cause problems  for  FAX,  so  try
  17. disabling  them. Also some things in Config.sys such as Virus checkers  can
  18. cause a problem. If the Cancel 'button' doesn't work, it's usually a TSR.

  20.      If it's an internal faxmodem, you'll need to use COM 3 or 4.  Probably
  21. use  IRQ 5 as well to avoid conflicts with devices on COM1/2.  Windows  3.0
  22. doesn't support com3/4. Windows 3.1 has comports and IRQs set wrong on  Com
  23. 3/4  so  you set com3/4 correcty via your Control Panel. If  the  modem  is
  24. external, do you have any internal devices using COM3/4?

  27.      Reset: AT&F+FCLASS=0    (to data mode)

  29. A  common Error is 72 or 100. This is usually caused by a TSR.  Check  your
  30. CONFIG.SYS  and Windows defaults. If the trouble is receiving a  fax,  this
  31. may also be TSR related. Windows is not a true multitasking evireonment. It
  32. shares  (switches  back  and  forth) between tasks.  So  continuing  on  an
  33. application,  may cause a fax (incoming or sending) to fail. I  would  wait
  34. until the fax is finished before continuing.

  40.    Does the fax work with the included 'dos' software? We can help you with
  41. that  if it doesn't, or use that to decide if there is a modem problem.  If
  42. the  dos software works, then Delrina must handle the more advanced  Winfax
  43. Pro questions. Also, Delrina did have to 'patch' some VERY EARLY Winfax Pro
  44. to work with the latest 14,400 faxmodems. So you may need that patch if you
  45. have  an EARLY Winfax. (Not Pro 3.x or later Pro 2.x). >>> If the  included
  46. dos software does not work (and it too is a current version) then the modem
  47. may have a problem.
